Diadem Rat Snake (Spalerosophis diadema atriceps)

Great feeder but extremely hissy. Will bite but not readily. always a thrill to handle! The camera just doesn't do justice to this snake in sunlight...she's a serious looker. I especially like her head shape which is kind of viper like with a narrow snout and swollen temples. She is a great feeder too and will readily eat two small rats. She's still growing too so she might even make 6 feet but overall she's a thin, very long tailed animal.

Oct. 6th, 2009 - Can't hear her hissing her but she sure is and through her nose, not her mouth.

Mar. 21st, 2010 - She's about 5 feet long now but really tough to measure with any accuracy.

Mar. 25th, 2010 - Her head plates are highly polished and present a lively irridescence which is tough  to capture with a camera...you can sort of see it here.
