California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula californiae)

This one wandered into my front yard in Ventura, CA one day. He was pretty thin and probably dehydrated as we were in a drought. He started out eating really well and then turned-off for the winter. After about 3 months in brumation, I took him out and he refused to eat, even after a shed. His weight seemed ok though and he was active so I finally released him in a safer place with good habitat about a mile away.

Oct. 22nd, 2009 - All call this look, Bronze and Butter and it looks even better in hard sun. Also had nice blue eyes.
